27/11/2011 :Rachael Chrisp to stand for Labour in Park:

Reading Labour Party Women’s Officer Rachael Chrisp has been selected as Labour candidate for Park Ward in the Borough elections next May.

She takes over from sitting Park Councillor Jon Hartley, who will be moving to London next year with his partner.

Rachael lives in Park Ward with her partner Chay and two cats, and cares greatly about her local area. She works in recruitment while Chay works for a local IT company. Formerly a union rep, she has been active as Labour Party Women’s Officer in attacking the Tory-led Government for the devastating impact the cuts have had on women in particular.

Rachael says: “I am excited to have been selected by Park Ward as Labour candidate for 2012. I have been working with Jon over the past twelve months in the ward and look forward to continuing the good work he has done for Park. Reading now again has a Labour Council which is reversing the worst cuts from that terrible year when the Tories and LibDems were in control, I hope Labour will continue in control after May,
and I very much want to be in there arguing for the best possible deal for local people in Park Ward.”
Jon says: “I am pleased to be able to hand over to Rachael who cares passionately about standing up for local people. Rachael and I are working together to tackle local issues including residents’ parking, traffic in local roads, houses in multiple occupancy, and ensuring local children can attend good local schools. I know she will do an excellent job for the ward.”
