An all-women delegation will be representing Reading Labour Party at the Party’s Annual Conference in Liverpool. Party Chair Sarah King will be accompanied by Women’s Officer Rachael Chrisp, and Minster Ward Councillor Marian Livingston, one of the four women in Labour’s nine-strong Cabinet.
Sarah King says: ““Women are suffering disproportionately under this Tory-led Government, with high inflation, cuts in Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit, reduced pension rights, and cutbacks in public services.
"In response many women are becoming more involved in Reading Labour, as shown by us having more women Councillors than the other three groups put together.
“It is therefore no surprise that three women in Reading Labour Party are going to Liverpool to ensure the voices of those suffering because of this Government are heard, and to stand up for Reading."
