02/11/09 : Naz: "I'm worried West Berks has missed a trick on Pincents Hill!" :
News that the 750-home planning application for Pincents Hill is expected to be considered by West Berkshire's Eastern Area Planning Committee on 16 December but that the Council will not decide its Core Strategy till 21 January, has worried Labour candidate for Reading West Naz Sarkar, who has been pressing for the Council to set its Local Development Framework before, hopefully, rejecting the Pincents Hill application.
He says: "Although the decision in January will only be to go out for public consultation on a preferred strategy, the draft strategy would still be a 'material planning consideration' establishing a framework within which a decision on this mega-application should be taken. I hope the Eastern Area Planning Committee will listen to local people and to the objections from Parish Councils, Reading Borough Council, and others and refuse Blue Living's application, but Blue Living have said they will go to appeal and West Berkshire's position at any appeal would be stronger if they had a dispersal strategy under their belts."
"Anyway," he says, "If the application is considered on 16 December I hope as many local people as possible will be there to show their opposition! The meeting is expected to be at Little Heath School, but please check the West Berkshire Council website to be certain."
