28/06/09 : Trish Thomas re-elected - and says Labour has everything to play for! :
On Thursday 25 June at the AGM of Reading & District Labour Party, Trish Thomas was re-elected as Chair - and took the opportunity to praise the Party for its work in the Euro-elections, which brought Labour 18.9% of the vote in Reading as against 15.7% nationally, and secured second place behind the Tories with the LibDems slumping to fourth place.
"What this shows," she said, "is that at the local elections and General Election next year Labour in Reading has everything to play for. And that campaign starts now."
The new PPC for Reading West, Naz Sarkar, thanked members for selecting him, and promised to make every effort to hold Martin Salter's seat in the General Election.
Andrew Dunn (Park) and Ben Zielinsky (Minster) were re-elected as Vice-Chairs East and West respectively, the new Secretary is Roger Sym from Tilehurst, Glenn Dennis (Calcot) was re-elected as Treasurer, and the new Women's Officer is Rachel Eden from Norcot.
