08/06/09 : Euro Results show it's Labour or the Tories in Reading :

The results of the European Elections on 4 June show that Reading remains a battleground between Labour and the Tories, with the LibDems - who have been claiming Labour is out of the race - slumping to fourth place behind the Greens and only narrowly ahead of UKIP.

TOn a day where Labour did badly across the country, with 15.7% of the vote, Reading Labour Party took 18.9% of the vote to come second behind the Tories who on 28.7% were only just above their national average and way behind their results across the South-East as a whole.

The LibDems' share of the vote in Reading was also lower than across the rest of the South-East.

The overall result in the South-East was unchanged, with 4 Tory MEPs, 2 LibDem, 2 UKIP and one Labour - Peter Skinner MEP retaining his seat.
