2/10/07 : Salter to make it four in a row
Martin Salter, Labour MP for Reading West since 1997, has been unanimously reselected by his party to fight the seat at the next General Election, whenever it comes.

As struggling Tories assemble in Blackpool, Reading Labour Party is pleased to announce that twenty-one party and trade union branches across the constituency have endorsed Martin as their candidate and are gearing up for the fray.

Martin Salter says: "It is a huge privilege to be given the opportunity to represent the town I know and love in Parliament, and I am pleased my colleagues and friends in Reading Labour Party have chosen me to fight their corner for a fourth time. With Gordon Brown now at the helm, and proving himself to be a strong and capable Prime Minister, Labour supporters in Reading can look forward to the General Election with renewed confidence.".

Reading Labour Party Vice-Chair Pete Ruhemann adds: "Martin knows Reading, and Reading people know Martin. He's been working for Reading for over twenty years, first as a Councillor and then as an MP, and has helped countless people over the years. We're delighted that he wants to keep on in there, and I am sure his constituents will want to see him back working for them in Westminster.".
