11/9/07 : Council's restoration team now in Eldon Square
Reading's only Georgian-style square, the King George V Memorial Garden in Eldon Square, is to be renovated to the traditional symmetrical design, with new flowerbeds, shrubs and trees, restored benches, and the re-creation of an inner circular walk round the garden, following a consultation with local residents.

Graeme Hoskin, Labour's Lead Councillor for Culture and Sport, said: "I would like to thank all residents and groups who have taken the effort to respond. It's great to see the strong level of support for the restoration work we are proposing.
"From the Forbury Gardens to the Simeon Monument, to Caversham Court and now these gardens, we have been able to do some great work to restore some of Reading's key heritage gems over the last few years. Eldon Square is just the latest but will not be the last."
